Faculty of Accounting – Auditing was established in July 2016 under Decision No. 1376/QD-DHNT of the Principal of Foreign Trade University. The predecessor of the Faculty is the Department of Accounting – Auditing under the Faculty of Business Administration. Over the past 15 years, the Faculty of Accounting – Auditing has contributed to training nearly 1,000 bachelors majoring in Accounting – Auditing. The faculty graduation students are highly appreciated by society, enjoy open job outlooks, and make significant contributions to the development of enterprises and the process of economic innovation in Vietnam.
Regarding the organizational structure, the Faculty has 3 departments which are Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, and Auditing. The Faculty consists of 20 members, including 2 Associate Professors, 6PhDs, and 12 Masters, of which 09 lecturers are Ph.D. candidates. Some lecturers have Certified Management Accountant – Australia certificate, CPA certificate from the Ministry of Finance. Faculty members also have experience working and consulting at large auditing firms such as KPMG, Ernst & Young, Deloitte… In recent years, the faculty members have achieved many goals in teaching and scientific research. There are more than 20 research articles published in Scopus/ISI and other prestigious international journals. Especially, from the academic year 2019, the Faculty joined the network of 10 Vietnamese largest universities in training accounting to organize the Vietnam Conference on Accounting and Auditing (VCAA).
In terms of training activities, the Faculty of Accounting – Auditing is responsible for training 2 programs which are the Accounting – Auditing and the Accounting – Auditing with ACCA orientation. These training programs aim to provide students with essential knowledge of business, accounting, auditing, taxation, finance, as well as professional knowledge and skills through major modules such as financial accounting, managerial accounting, taxation, financial management, auditing, business law, effective business management… The Faculty of Accounting – Auditing of Foreign Trade University is proud to be the leading university in Vietnam to deploy the Accounting – Auditing with ACCA orientation program that integrates 9 subjects at foundation level and applied skill level of the ACCA course.
With 2 courses of students graduating from the Faculty, high distinction and excellent students always achieve a rate of over 60%. The passing rate of ACCA subjects in the global exams of students majoring in Accounting – Auditing is always higher than the global pass rate. Faculty’s students always win the Prize Winner (for the candidate with the highest score in Vietnam), especially in the exam in June 2021, the Faculty has the student with the highest score in the world in Financial Reporting. Many bachelors of ACCA’s career-oriented accounting and auditing programs have been recruited by big auditing firms like Big4 right after graduation.
In order to improve the quality of training in the direction of linking theory with practice, training skills, attitudes, and ethics for students, the Faculty of Accounting – Auditing pays attention to develop cooperation with professional associations, businesses, and banks to find scholarships, internship opportunities, and jobs for students such as the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants of the UK (ACCA), the Australia Institute of Certified Management Accountants (CMA), the Vietnam Association of Certified Public Accountants (VACPA), American Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), KEB Hana Bank (Korea), Ernst & Young, KPMG, Deloitte and ACCA Training Centers such as Smart Train, FTMS, Vietsourcing… Researching activities as well as student club activities such as CFAA are also continuously promoted and actively supported by the Faculty. Specifically, over the past 10 years, the Faculty has continuously organized the Student Research Contest in accounting and auditing, and sponsored the competition for Talented Auditors Cup (TAC), Executive audit process … These activities are not only an opportunity for the Faculty’s students to practice skills and approach employers but also contribute to enhancing the prestige of the Faculty.
